Folgers Noir Smoky Midnight Coffee Review

I have to admit, I have never tried Folgers coffee until trying this dark roast coffee.

To clarify, I have nothing against it. I just prefer some of the single-origin, small/micro-lot coffees that are available in bean form.

In an effort to be a little more rounded and expand my coffee sampling, I am trying the new line of Folgers Noir coffees.

And, well, I am not disappointed at all with this.

ABOUT

To start with, I love the packaging and design of this product. It was so eye-catching that I noticed it on the bottom shelf of the grocery store coffee aisle - somewhere I normally do not look for coffee.

On the front of the packaging it reads:

“An intensely dark roast with a robust body and smoky finish.”

Being a huge fan of smoky things such as Isla scotch, I knew I needed to give this coffee a try.

This is an Arabica coffee. Additionally, Folgers notes the following about this coffee:

“With Folgers Noir, discover the delightful tastes of complex dark coffee. Carefully selected 100% Arabica beans are expertly roasted to create a coffee that is deliciously dark yet smooth.”

REVIEW

Opening up this package of dark coffee was fun - kind of like opening a present that is not wrapped. You know what it is, so there is no surprise, yet when you open it you are still a little surprised with how awesome it is.

The scent of this coffee is alluring. Really, it is near intoxicating to smell this coffee.

In the cup, it is actually a pretty damn good cup of coffee. After taking my first sip of this dark roast, I let out a little chuckle. I am pleasantly surprised by this coffee, to say the least.

It is not a fair comparison pitting this against a Starbucks Reserve roast, so I will not go there. But needless to say, this is a cup of coffee that you are sure to enjoy.
