Starbucks Via Instant Colombia Coffee Review
What the hell was I thinking drinking this?
To be honest, I wanted to give it a fair chance. I really did.
I was standing there in the grocery store aisle with this little package of Starbucks Via coffee in hand, picturing myself being able to use this while traveling in a variety of situations - hotels, the homes of family or friends that do not have coffee, or maybe even on the airplane.
So yes, I bought this package of Starbucks Via Colombia for those very few, very specific instances.
ABOUT
Starbucks VIA coffees are incredible handy and convenient because they are instant. You just have to dump it in hot water and it dissolves, leaving you with a cup of coffee, fast.
The grounds are micro-ground, so there is very little residual grounds left at the bottom of your cup when you finish drinking it.
This particular Starbucks VIA coffee is made from arabica beans and is classified as a medium roast coffee.
On the Starbucks website, they offer the following description for this coffee:
“We’ve always loved coffee from Colombia. And we’re never reminded of that love more than when we are traveling to visit the coffee farms. Driving treacherous dirt roads with only a sheer mountain wall to the right side—to the left nothing but air for thousands of feet. Sitting at 6,500 feet of elevation, nestled among the beautiful and distinctive Colombian countryside, these farms produce the very best of this amazing coffee. For us the round body, juicy taste and signature nutty finish are worth the journey every single time.”
REVIEW
I struggle to know just how to rate this coffee because it is, well, kind of a let down. That being said, I would still buy it just for the convenience of having a crappy cup of coffee at my disposal. There have been too many times lately that I wanted coffee and the only thing available to me was 8-hour old gas station drip coffee. By the way, it did not even taste like coffee but tasted more like sunflower seed juice.
So, that being said, I think that this Starbucks VIA Instant Colombia coffee does offer something - convenience.
It does not taste great at all. It tasted like someone dumped a campfire in my cup of coffee, even when I try adding a touch of cream and sugar. Yummmm, sweet creamy campfire bean juice.
I always have an envelope of this crap on hand just for when I travel.
It is just not something that I would choose to drink at home. It is my last resort.
